Cleanliness on the Road

Howdy folks! So I just visited the r/truckers Reddit for the first time since oh, prolly 2022. I wanted to post a link to my NFT collection haha, BUT like a good boy I read the forum rules and it pretty much explicitly prohibits such activity. So I just perused the page for a few minutes. Holy crap I got pretty emotional! Still filled with humor (like laugh out loud funny stuff), great debates on issues truckers deal with, and heartwarming stories! Seems strange that with such a bond we share online that it’s not more reflected irl. Obviously we do see it from time to time, diner chats, trucker lounge full on a snowy blitz night on I-80 and someone gets a good convo going, and seeing someone actually hustle in the fuel island and pull forward before heading inside. By and large, however, it doesn’t feel like we’re a brother/sister community when we’re out there grinding. Does anyone see that trending back in the other direction?

Anyway, one of the heartwarming posts I saw just made me smile ear to ear. This gal, super clean cut, bright, and cheery, did a video blog about her first trucking experience over the road by herself after training. She had made a video where she showed her truck when she picked it up from a steering wheel holder who had abandoned it on the side of the road, just littered and nasty, and then in the current video showed how she had cleaned and organized it! I don’t know about you, but I struggled with cleanliness while driving. I always kept the truck picked up and trash in the bag, and cleaned spills as quick as I could, but I didn’t keep it SPOTLESS ya know? Like a military man would. This gal looks as though she’s gonna have a spotless truck during her trucking journey. Just hearing her share her story was a shot of hope and restored faith that good people are still entering this industry and doing their part to make it a better place to operate.

You might be thinking, eh dude, it’s HER truck and her space that doesn’t affect the outside world. I don’t think that’s quite right. I think it’s Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” at work. You start with yourself and your space, and that DOES trickle down and spread through society. So, just wanted to share her story and give ya’ll a boost today, lemme know what you think in the comments! Oh…and check out the NFT Collection!!!! http://opensea.io/collection/early-dcf-enthusiasts/overview

Have a great Day!

Matt.
